Greetings from Kathmandu!

Namascar!

Hello everyone at Nourish!  The entire UCSB team has arrived in Kathmandu, and we’re all very excited  to be here! I ( Miya) have had the fortune of living in Nepal for a month, so I’m no longer as phased by the loud horns, excessive trash, and creepy people in Thamel! Nonetheless, we’re still in awe at the liveliness and beauty of this city.

In addition to the Nourish team, we’re excited to be travelling with Olivia Wong, the Director of the Inspire a Child Initiative ( the brain child of this whole project), Aspasea McKenna, Director of Projects, Jack Amend, Director of Programs and Operations, and Carly Koontz, a friend I met while living in Dhading who goes to SLO , Nepal. In total we have nine Americans, and eight are from California!

We’re having a team meeting tonight with a gift exchange ice-breaker, and then we’re having a Sarswati School briefing tomorrow at the Koseli school which serves Kathmandu’s slum children.

We’ll be leaving to Gorkha Sunday at 7am for a 4 hour bus ride to Gorkha Bazaar then a 2 plus hour hike to our home in Aruporkhari-1.

Until then!

Lots of love,

Miya + Nourish Team!
